Today I visited Westminster Abbey.
On entering I was immediately accosted by the Warden who was so kind as to lead me to closed off places. For example, I was able to go up to the shrine of St. Edward the Confessor, which was roped off.
However, a reader and long-time friend TB sent a note saying that today was the anniversary of the deposition of Mary, Queen of Scots.
Some years ago with another friend I visited the place of her death, the mournful Fotheringhay.
I visited Mary’s tomb today.
