PODCAzT 46: Gregory the Great on when pastors should SPEAK UP; priests and getting your way; voicemail feedback

Today St. Pope Gregory the Great (+604) speaks to us from across the centuries in his Liber regulae pastoralis about when a bishop or priest (rector or pastor) should speak out bodly for the sake of their flock.  They mustn’t be timid or worry about being liked.  Instead, they have a responsibility to defend the flock and to correct errors.  We hear first the English and then the Latin of the excerpt from this mornings Office of Readings in the Liturgia horarum for the 27th Sunday of Ordinary Time.

Also, we look at the qualifications for the "perfect priest".

We talk about how not to approach priests when you want to make a petition for something or speak your mind.

Finally, I have voice mail feedback from a listener in my home state of Minnesota about how they are organizing to get celebrations of the older, "Traditional Latin Mass" in keeping with Pope Benedict’s provisions in Summorum Pontificum so they won’t have to drive so far just to have the older Mass.

Then I rant about what some of the people putting up obstacles are so afraid of, anyway.
