26 May: St. Philip Neri

Altar in the room of St. Philip NeriCOLLECT:
Deus, qui fideles tibi servos
sanctitatis gloria sublimare non desistis,
concede propitius,
ut illo nos igne Spiritus Sanctus inflammet,
quo beati Philippi cor mirabiliter penetrvit.

The only tricky word here is sublimo, which according to the thorough Lewis & Short Dictionary is "to lift up on high, to raise, elevate".

LITERAL TRANSLATION:
O God, who ceases not to raise on high
by the glory of sanctity servants faithful to You,
propitiously grant,
that the Holy Spirit inflame us with that same fire
with which He marvelously penetrated the heart of Saint Philip.

And, here is a relic of the praecordia of St. Philip Neri.  The praecordium is not the heart itself, but it is close!

Praecordium S. Philippi Neri

This is where I celebrated Mass this morning.
